Look it up on the Slot.it website to see what is used in the Matra cars. It is the second picture, CH-66. The third picture looks like the wood guide that would be used in the LMP cars not the Classic cars, which did not come in any original Matra car. The newest Slot.it Classic cars will now use an advanced guide that will have a screw to retain the guide and will have holes in the front to allow set screws to retail the wires, like is used in the latest Ford GT40 cars, as an example. The advanced guide, like in the second picture has been used in most of the Slot.it cars, for maybe ten years now. I think Slot.it is up to version D for that guide. The Slot.it CH-06 has not been used in a Slot.it car in a very long time. I would be guessing over 10 years ago, like when the cars were using a rounded case orange end bell 21.5k motored cars. Jim W I bought my Matra a long time ago and it has the orange bell motor. Tom

Tom, I also bought my Matra a long time ago, the same time as you did, and it is still used as an example in the Slot.it website as well is the second Matra model B is also. Both of our cars are new enough to be using the square case orange end bell motors and would have had an "advanced" CH-66 guide as the standard guide.
How many other Slot.it cars do you have that have that red guide in them? I don't have any. All of mine are black. I looked at my first Slot.it cars that I bought back in 2007/2008 and also looked at the first Racer Sideways cars to find a guide like what was in your Matra and none of my cars have one like it. I looked on the Slot.it website and I did not find your guide there either. None are like that red guide.

You can change your guide to the Ch-66 guide. Looking at the website the newer guide is Ch-85, which is the screw mount guide now. The old Ch-06 would have been the long shaft guide that may have been use in an application that used a spring on top of the guide. The Ch-26 is the old standard guide that is in my old Slot.it cars.

My only guess is your car came from Bob S. and it was a preproduction car that he received for the Magazine to test. Maybe you were even the one that tested the car for the Magazine.
