Hey guys, how are you all up there in Front Range country? Just thought I should post a few pics of what I've been doing to replace Pebblestone Raceway that I hope is getting some use at Don's shop. It has taken me some time, but it's nearly done: The photo was taken just before I started laying the braid. Of course once I started that and got one lane done...... There are lots more photos of the whole process here: smg.photobucket.com/albums/v48/gascarnut/Wood%20Track/I have completed all the braiding now and next up is the final wiring and then barriers, lap timing and scenery. Hopefully it will all be done early in the new year, so any time anyone is out in sunny SoCal, you're welcome to drop by for some laps.

Thanks Guys, I wish you were all a bit closer to come try it out. I won't be embarrassed by this one as I was with my silly little Carrera 2-laner after I had run at Tom and Walter and Miles and Don and Dave C and the rest in Denver. Since the last photos, I have managed to complete all the wiring and the drivers' panels, now it's the lap scoring, scenery and finally the outer barriers.

Beautiful piece of work Dennis, wish it was still off of Lucent though...
Thanks for keeping us in the loop!
Which paint did you end up using?

I put down UMA, just like DIRCUSA.
Perhaps the color is a little different, but I got the same story from the paint store guy about how they could only add two tints or else it would upset the adhesion qualities of the paint.
Seems like my foam tire cars will run well, once the track is nice and clean, and everything else seems to work, even kit rubber.
Ortmanns are best at present, even better than Super tires. Perhaps that has to do with the surface that comes from putting this paint onto bare MDF. It feels a little rougher than I remember your Carrera surface to be.

Clubs got plenty of money in the treasury, I think we need a road trip!

Some updates for you all: I have started with the scenic part now, first off some nice kerbs, strategically located so the lanes look like a racing line: And this is where the pit entrance will be, with the pit buildings to the right of the picture, against the bridge section: There's just one spot that needed filling and grassing, and I need to do a bit more work on it, as the color is not what I had hoped (it's too brown, not yellow enough): I bought a Trackmate system which was an instant success, in marked contrast to my previous experience with Laptimer 2000 (which was probably my own fault!). I needed to build a light bridge, and had thought about hiding it inside a Dunlop bridge like Le Mans, but there's just not enough space for that size of a structure, so I soldered up a gantry from some 3/32 and 1/16 brazing rod: Once it was all tested and working (and that took a few hundred laps on each lane, of course!) I painted it all: Eventually it will get some banners along the sides. Well, that's about it so far. Perhaps if I "tested" less and worked more, I would get done quicker, but what fun is that? Take care you all, stay warm (I'm in Lexington KY right now and it was 11 degrees today without the windchill). Dennis

The track is coming along very nicely Dennis! I agree, you need a little balance between work and play. Sure miss you Buddy. Thanks for the update......
