I have had cars that passed the last time we raced a class and when I checked them before we raced them again, they didn't pass. The car may need to have the front axle setting adjusted a slight amount or the rear motor pod screws may need a little adjustment. Or I have used the tires on another car and may have put the wrong size tires back on the car. (I only use the axle mounts that came on the Sideways car. The extra ones under the case will lower a car and will make the car hard to pass tech or the tires will rub on the fenders.)
I have a 1960's NASCAR, modified with a Slot.it HRS2 chassis, that I ran 10 years ago. When I checked it at a race it would not pass. After setting for a long time the chassis had warped and twisted. I saw the problem and was able to put it on a "hot plate" and allowed to cool. The car now has more clearance than it ever had and will easily pass the 1/16th inch minimum ground clearance. The chassis is very flat now. This car would be an extreme example, since the car uses side body mounts and will put some force on the chassis.

I did adjust the front axle and put larger tires on the rear. I had to put a nylon washer on the body post so the rear tires would clear the body. It was much faster and handled better when it was lower.

I just looked at my Sideways Lancia Stratos and gave it a check before we race them. I had to make a very small adjustment to set my ride height. I am using the stock axle posts, not any of the ones that came under the case. I am using a short tire, Super Tires 1402, and I can adjust my car for proper 1/16th ground clearance. My tires don't touch the body. The tire is centered in the wheel well. I did find a piece of flashing where the exhaust is, so I remove it with a spruce cutter. The only other issue I can see is where motor pod is attached with the two screws. They may have some flashing from when those screws were attached to the motor pod. I have filed any rough edges so they are smooth, and the 1/16th rod will not "hang up" as it passed under the car. The only other thing that I can think of is to take your car apart and make sure the chassis is flat and to make sure the motor pod is also flat. If you do find a problem with them, we can "fix" it by using my chassis straighter.

The motor pod screws can also control the ride height of a car. When we ran the Can Am cars, I may have had my motor pod screws tight to make sure my Thunderslot car would pass.

Dennis, I have the same issue with the body being lower than the chassis, I ended up using small washers between the body mount and the chassis to raise the body, worked great.

Hi all, Im going to try and race with you all, I have my LeMans car but figured I'd check to see how long you'll run these as well to see if it's worth getting one of the group5 as well.

Gp 5 just started today so it will be going on for a while. We are also racing GT 40s now and the Lemans class will follow them. Welcome to the club.

Hi all, My Skyline comes in today. I'd like to get it setup to race on Saturday. I've got some quick slicks I ordered with it, is all I need to do is setup the chassis clearance? I have a Slot invasion guide for my Carrera home track I assume that would be illegal correct? Thanks and looking forward to racing with you all!

If you look at the first post for this thread, it will have the rules for this class. The minimum ground clearance is 1/16th of an inch. I use a solid piece of 1/16th brass rod and will slide it under the chassis to check. If the car raises when the rod is put under the car, the car needs to be adjusted for clearance. In this class, you cannot change any of the parts, such as the guide. We all will be using the same parts, so the racing will be close. You can only change the tires. We will use silicone tires on the rear. Either Quick Slicks or Super Tires are used by the Club. I believe most, that are using Quick Slicks, are using the extra firm, XF, tires.
I will have an extra Ford GT 40 that will be available for your use at the Saturday race at Harry's, March 2nd.
Welcome
