Interested in an ‘Enduro' series?
To gauge member interest in staging an enduro series, please make your comments here.
Currently there are 3 track locations suited to stage an enduro; Jims’, Marks’ and Colpar.
Based upon Jim’s and Mark’s preferences and restrictions, the club could likely run up to 3 or 4 enduros through the course of the year, however if member interest exceeded that number, plans could hopefully be drawn up to accommodate popular opinion.
In the event that the ‘Group C’ format be agreed upon by members, rules pertaining to those cars will then be drawn up. Rules will be drawn up regardless of which particular class is agreed upon.
Enduro events will be scheduled so as not to conflict with RMSCC sprint races and hopefully any Vintage club’s races as well. Based upon a 3 or 4 race series, staging one event per quarter would likely be an option.
If any members have the interest to participate in an enduro series, please indicate your intent so we can gauge how many racers are likely to run in these events. At that time all the particulars including rules can be formulated.

I would maybe only want a few Enduros a year. At least that is what I might come to. I don't think they "have" to be part night racing. We have used Ford vs Ferrari cars, Revoslot GT cars as well as Group C cars, without having night racing. As I recall, we had 15 drivers at Colpar and we ran 15 minutes on each lane. You can use Teams or just have each member run their own car. I would pick cars that are from the "performance" brand companies, to ensure that the cars would be more reliable and don't have guides that would be a problem. When we ran the Pioneer Legends at my house for the IROC class, we found a problem with the guides and braids, as an example. Scalextric and Carrera are two other brands that I would not want to use, unless the bodies were the only thing from the company that was used for an Enduro.

I would love to participate but I cant host. My track would not be comfortable for an enduro.

Now that Mark's track has been proven, I think a slight change in the enduro rules is in order. Rather than have a stop in between driver changes on each lane, I suggest that each team run a LONG stint on each lane, and figure out driver changes, pit stops and car repairs on the fly. For example, team A would run the yellow lane for one hour and all 2 or 3 racers would have to plan and carry out driver changes within that hour. The only time the track would be shut down is when teams change lanes and each team would swap lanes, but start at the same spot on the track when the track goes hot again. There would be a minimal delay (unless the group decided to take a lunch break) and would emphasize greater teamwork with minimal delays and maximum action.
We've done it before at Jim's track and it worked fine, while making for a more efficient enduro. Love to hear from the group before we consider adding this to the 2023 Enduro rules.

My track is available to host but I probably won't participate. Tom

Dave, I like your idea and agree that it went pretty well at Jims when we tried that method. It also opens up the drivers on track at any given time, and it makes for some exciting and competitive runs between drivers that may not race against each other in a pre-set rotation format.
I believe there are probably more members that would run or consider running enduro events than have spoken up so far, because we've never had a shortage of participants in the past.
So, should the committee be tasked with defining rules before members have weighed in, or wait to see comments such as yours from the membership? I know not all of them necessarily read all the threads, but have opinions nevertheless.
Tom, thanks for offering up your track. Given that it is 2 lanes, is there a method to running an enduro that you have either tried or thought of that could work?
