The purpose of this 'UPDATED' version is to readdress this class, containing all the original posts as well as recent ones posted in the 'Revo Slot Datsun 510' thread. I've written a summation that hopefully addresses pertinent points since the arrival of the long-awaited Revo Slot Datsun 510.
The conception and framework of the ruleset that will define this class will consider current discussion and acknowledgment of previously covered content. The rules will be written by the committee in effect at the time they are formulated. All member comment and suggestions will be considered when drafting the framework for the ruleset.
It is my belief that an acceptable framework for this class can be achieved, and that most, if not all members will find acceptable. I absolutely, do not see it as another “Sebring 60 - 65” debacle, with that class’s inherent issues compromising parity among disparate classes, all 'within a common class’.
Clarifying and perhaps merging the practical and suggested options can certainly be discussed with a refreshed perspective.
This class was originally slated to be run last year, but was deferred primarily due to the anticipated release of a principal protagonist; the Datsun 510 sedan. Also of note is that the series run as the ‘Mini Revo Slot’ concluded nearly four months ago, in November last year. Several of those cars are eligible for the ‘2.5 T/A series’ class. Based upon the scheduled ‘2024 Classes Run Order’, the 2.5 T/A class would be slated to commence around August 3rd, 2024. That is still 5 months away and gives ample time to frame rules for it.
PRACTICALITY
Straightaway, the benefits of the represented Revo Slot branded cars that competed in the actual series becomes apparent and self-evident. Serious consideration must be made for the fact that the chief protagonists; Alfa Romeo GTA, Datsun 510, and BMW 2002 are all made to the same material specification by the same manufacturer. Include the Ford Escort (though not a principal competitor) and you have four different marques, all of which are inherently ‘equal'.
One principal car that won championships, but is not currently produced by Revo Slot, is the original Porsche 911. Otherwise, all of the top cars would be represented completely and ‘equally’ by a common manufacturer.
Addition of other manufacturer's cars to the aforementioned Revo Slot branded ones, could still be regarded as ‘practical’ although careful consideration to availability and assessment of performance must be ensured when designating modifications.
SUGGESTED
When considering other manufacturer’s cars, such as FLY, Scalextric, MRRC, Spirit etc. consideration must address; availability and overall cost, including suggested or designated modifications.
There are a number of cars that are eligible, some more easily available than others, and it will ultimately fall to each member’s preferences as to which car(s) he wants to campaign.
There are significant cars that competed in the 2.5 challenge that may not have distinguished themselves as much as the ‘winners’, however were important or relevant nonetheless.
Box Stock options would realistically only apply to the Revo Slot cars.
Limited Modifications could realistically apply to all manufacturer’s cars. I would suggest that members designate their interests or intent to either acquire or campaign a specific car or cars, so that the committee can address those specific cars for consideration regarding allowances for modification.
CLOSING THOUGHTS
Now that Revo Slot’s Datsun 510 has arrived and has met with unprecedented demand, it genuinely begs to enter formal competition. The only acceptable way that it realistically can, is to compete in the already 'voted for’ and deferred 2.5 T/A class. Any other option would have to wait for the current ‘2024 Class Run Order’ to expire. The fact that Slot It’s version of the 510 has yet to arrive does not diminish this marque’s ability to legitimately represent itself in the actual series it was ‘developed' for.
It would be a shame not to pursue this class and let this most-anticipated slot car just languish on the shelf for another year.

This a thread that we can use to see what our ideas are for the class - Trans Am - 2.5 liter and under Class.
