Ok guys it's 2016 do we want to have dues this year? Personally I feel we should, only to identify who is a member for voting purposes. Since we have not had an "official" RMSCC event recently it may be a moot point. I feel a gratuitous dollar or two could work. All of last years members are active in Tom's Wed night series except Chad, who I have not heard from for maybe six months. What do you guys think?

We used to do the dollar per car for those "championship" races. Half to the host and half to the treasury. Since we stopped doing those races and have been doing just the informal Monday and Wensday night racing the cash has stopped. I used to put out a "donation" jar... sometime last year there was less than a dollar in loose change. I stopped putting the donation jar out and stopped putting out snacks and sodas. Now I just put out bottled water...

As one of the newer members, I've been reluctant to voice any opinion on this. But it seems like a waste not using the treasury to both encourage attendance AND to reward (Dave or Tom) for hosting the races. Picnics are fine, but slots are the reason we're in this, so whatever the solution is, it should revolve around the racing.

It's 2017. Anyone got any thoughts for this year? Maybe a sign or two at Colpar? Any other forums out there?

I think we all agree that we could use some new members for our group. One thought I have is that we should come up with a class like Trans Am or such an run it as a support class along with a rotating class like we are doing now. Maybe even have some club cars that have been tuned by members as hand out cars. I would be more than happy to purchase one for a donation. Something we can loan out that is ready to go. I have watched John P struggle through his first couple years because he didnt get any guidance in any of his purchases. Sure we all want to buy the style we like but sometimes those cars are just never competitive. Look how good he and Patrick do when they get a tuned car. John's Jaguar is finally running fantastic because Tom took the time to help him out. I know Mark has been assisting Patrick with some of his and it really does make a difference. Adding some signage to the front door and evening in the head would also help. Mark and I always promote the group when we run at the store track and still it has been a struggle. Maybe come up with a set of 4-6 classes for a year to keep costs down? Dave M stated he didn't want to buy something, run it for three weeks and never run it again. I think he has a great point. Most of us have been doing this for 20+ years so we have a ton of stuff. I think keeping costs down and better promoting is the way to go. Also promoting on the forums is a great idea. Just a few of my ideas but would like to hear from you guys as well. Lets talk about this at the next time we meet at the store.

Some very good points have been raised. I'll come up with a flyer to pass out with each slot car purchase at the store with the site addresses for the RMSCC and the vintage club. I'll also put up the sign for the track on both doors (they were there but they were taken down), and in the bathroom. Hopefully that will help. Another good point was raised at the race tonight--we wondered if the fact that we don't race with magnets is turning people away from racing with us? Something else to think about. Tom

I made up some flyers and posted them in the men's room and by the slot car area. One of them is an invitation for new members to join us if they are interested in racing with us. Maybe this will help, we will see. Tom

Sounds good to me. I do think we should have a panel of people to help with decision making process. I also think this should also get rotated so everyone gets the share. Blog clean up, sure. Codes of ethics and behavior should be implemented, keeping my eye on Mark. I've heard stories.

I'm actually the current president of the club, have been for a while, but it really doesn't mean anything at the moment. The only decisions we have to make is where to race and what we are racing and we usually do that on Wed. nights during the races. I'd like to start the "championship" races again, with 2 different classes and rules and tech inspections if everyone is on board with that. If we decide to do that, then club officers would be needed. Tom

I think elections would be good for the club. Short points series would be nice I just think that at times especially in the summer we may have problems getting participation every week, maybe we could identify the points races in advance so we can make plans to be available for the points races, say maybe every other week or so would be points races. I like the idea proposed for a standard standing class to keep cost down for instance a Trans am class or maybe a several different cars in the standing class like TA, GT, Etc. The second class would be what ever is decided on by the powers that be. Buying 1 new car is much more cost effective for some of us then buying 2 new cars every 6 weeks.

I like the idea of a meeting at a restaurant to hash out some new ideas and elect new/old officers, takes me back to when the club was first started in 2007. We can decided whether to start a championship series again, club officers, dues, and any other issues that come up. If we do a championship series, I think I can get the store to chip in a gift certificate to the winner of each portion of the series (I wouldn't take it if I won, it would go to the 2nd place finisher). Anyway, let's pick a date and place to hole the meeting that's convenient to everyone as soon as we can. Tom
