I would be interested in running the May 29th race at colpar if my schedule allow to check it out, I have the 1969 Gold Leaf Lotus 49. Howver my rear wheels cracked some time ago, and I replaced the whole rear axle assembly with one from the 1976 Mclaren M23 as the wheel design was also 4 spoke, will this be an issue? I was also reading there is an issue with the lap timer reading the car? I am assuming the early Scalextric Tyrrell is not a legal car for the class.

If you still have your original rear axle/wheels set, just glue the cracked wheel and use a clamp to ensure it closes the gap in the crack. I just did this with an Gurney Eagle yesterday. The wheel cracked when I removed the rear rubber tire to fit silicones in their place.
I'm sure Jim Weickum will advise you on the legality of using the M23's rear axle. The Lotus' gear ratio (crown gear teeth) would have to be retained I'm sure. Colpar's lap timing requires certain F1 cars on certain lanes to "carry" an "appendage" such as a "wing" to ensure that the photo cell counts the cars' passing. I taped a simple piece of paper about the dimensions of a scale "wing" to the underside of my Lotus 49 chassis and it counted every lap I ran with it. BTW, it was taped between the front and rear axle lines, or just underneath the cockpit.
As far as the Tyrrell, it first ran late in the 1970 season, so no it cannot run this class, but would have to wait for the 1970s F1 class sometime down the line.

I don't have the original wheels as it was more than a small Crack. The were repaired multiple times, I really should have supported them with a brass tube after the first time but didn't. Does the car not drag on the jump at colpar?

Do you know if the photo cell counts the Gurney Eagle?

I have ran my Gurney Eagle before and it had counted the laps. The Scalextric Lotus 49 is a narrower body and may not count the laps on, I think it was yellow lane at Colpar. I have had problems also at my tracks with these cars. That is why I have used "stickers" to help my cars with being counted by the overhead lap timers. A few years ago we ran this class and I had brought some "bow tie stickers" that I was willing to let everyone use for the race. Most of the guys didn't want one on their cars, so three of us used the "Bow ties". After the race, we were the only guys that had 20 or more laps on the score board. I have used the later models, I think 1968/1969, that have winglets on the front and wing on the rear and these cars always count the laps. I have tried experimenting with putting "plastic material" on my car on the nose or under the body, and 1/4" flat strap was not wide enough to count every time. It would count when you went slow, but when you go as fast as Chris runs, it wouldn't count every lap. When you use the lane markers to help with the lap counting, you must offset the lane marker to the side of the led on the timing bridge. Red and Blue lanes on one side and Yellow and Green lanes on the opposite side of the cars.
