Just tried installing the Atalaya livery kit for the 1/32 McLaren MP4/4. The high quality water transfer decals look good, with crisp printing and lines. However, there was one big surprise: the clear edge surrounding the graphics are NOT pre-trimmed. That means each set of decals must be closely cut (I used scissors) separately around many of the graphics to prevent the clear material from hanging off the edge. Sounds trivial, but in my model building experience, it was a PITA to do. Just something to consider when using this product.

If memory serves correctly, I did not have to cut so close to the image when applying the decal because the 'clear' edging (where it was cut) of the decal disappeared when dried, especially when sprayed with either a dull or gloss overcoat finish. I'll be soon working with decals myself again (after many years away from it) and will offer any hints that may help, but it seems like you're well on your way to finishing the car. If nothing else Dave, try an unused or unwanted decal on another piece of plastic to see if the edging disappears after drying. I had always used Micro Set and Micro Sol when preparing the surface for the decal to help soften it to conform to the minutest panel lines and detail surfaces. Finishing it with the Micro Set finishes it off and after 24 hours, applying the gloss coat ensuring any decal 'edges' disappear.

Robert- the problem is when the clear edging overlays the body part being covered. Despite cutting the decal out, with a little margin, I continued to find particular sections where the edging hung off the side of the cockpit, wing or other body section being covered. Micro set won't help in those cases. Perhaps I can show you tomorrow evening when I bring the McLaren in.
This problem isn't a show stopper, but remains something unexpected.
