As most of you have seen, and a few have driven on, I built a Carrera 4 lane banked oval track. I am in the last stages of getting the light bridge set up. Learned that the supports needed to be wider...... It is set up with a separate Trackmate system and four permanent Professor Motor basic controllers, as brake and sensitivity is not needed. I am working on light poles and safety fence for both corners. Track size is 5'6" x 12'0".
I would like to see what interest there is for running once a month. And what day would make sense.
I have also driven all kinds of cars from vintage 1/24 to NASCAR, Indy and any current 1/32. I have found that if the voltage is up to 12.5 volts, Scalextric with a little weight, no magnets and Quick Slicks the car is on rails for 5 to 10 laps, then you have to let off going into the corner. I have also run the Vintage Stock cars with magnets on stock tires and again fun.
If you're interested, and I know this will not interest all RMSCC members but want to see the interest.
Thanks Mark W, Warren Lake International Raceway Park

The Vintage Club will take the Summer off from racing, so that will allow a little time for some racing on the Oval. I arrived late for the last race, so I didn't get my oval fix in that time.

If you are running Legends on the Oval, I suggest a net dome during the racing. I think we can get one to make it into the Movie room if "all goes well".

Jim,
Thanks for your note and input. I would like to try an oval day prior to this summer and looks like Saturday April 15th is open. I need to get another straight outside boarder from Marc, and add coming out of turn 4, so I have some place to attach the light bridge, or at least help support it. I will try and get the light bridge back up this weekend so we can test the computer for times and the wireless network so we can have times on the large TV screen. We had this working at one point, but not since.
I sent a message to Chris, Marc and Craig to see if that works with them.
I would think bring what ever type of oval racer you want to try and I have a pretty good selection as well.
Maybe we do a summer oval series and one of the dates could be Thursday afternoon........ Or on the RMSCC race on June 3rd, We run oval in the morning before the road race...... We have options.
Mark

Can you stop by sometime today or tomorrow to get that straight border section? You should have reminded me when you dropped off Harry’s cleaning tool…
Prbably could make the 15th work… I also like the idea of oval in the morning and road course in the afternoon. Be prepared for some racers to want to sleepover the night before…. Just saying!

I guess, you could test out the Motor Home up by the pool and tennis courts, Maybe Jim would bring his as well..... And it is Warren Lake International Raceway Park, so.............

In getting ready for racing this Saturday, the Safety Fencing has been installed on all corners. The new light bridge is in place and working off my Surface Pro. Attachments:

I would like to thank Chris and Marc for making the trip up last Saturday. I have to say there was more laughing for the 4 hours we spent on the oval than I have heard since getting back into slot cars. We ran Carrera 70's NASCAR, Scalectric 80's NASCAR, Pioneer Legends and a plethora of other cars. We actually did three races and found that if we do 1 min runs on each lane, you get 25 to 30 laps based on wrecks. Also found out that we should have track call buttons on each side, which I will have by the next race. With the cars we were running non magnet cars with silicone tires. We also checked the weight and appears that we may need weight limits for the cars. The track is running at 12.5 volts and the vintage cars ran pretty well. Neither Marc nor I had built our Reproduction Midgets but I should have mine done in the next week. I would like to try another Saturday in May, so let me know of interest and a day that would work. Here is a picture of the track after racing. Attachments:

Nice rack. Looks like fun. Repro Midgets? Are they the kits that are sold for about $140.00 bucks. If so I've seen them and want one. My racing in the mid "60" started with Monogram midgets and wanted to get another for quite some time now. The original vintage one are way too expensive.

Mid America Slot Cars is making a reproduction of it and box and parts are like the original. I will be building mine this next week.
