Time for a change
Since it is a new year, I think the Club is in need of a change.
We have "rules" no one could change if they wanted to make a change. The "rules" are locked and only one person, that has not been very active with this Club, holds the "key".
We also need to look at how we have a Board of Officers that do not exist. I was given the Admin rights when a couple of guys could not agree on anything and have left the Club at that time. We need to have someone that will be responsible and lead this Club. We need to elect people that have an interest in promoting the Club.
I get very tired of the misinformation that is posted on this board. I have a large selection of slot cars that will fit in most all of the classes that we have run and may run in the future. When someone is saying something negative about a product and they don't own it, I don't feel like that is the best information that is available for the product.
I think it is time to elect a President, Vice President and Treasure. Let them be our voice on what we need and want. I would think they should be responsible enough to attend at least 50/75% of the races so they can see what is happening in the Club.

I agree with Jim- it's time to elect officers and start anew. The race committee has seen through a period of rapid expansion of RMSCC and the club now needs a strong board leadership to help guide it. I suggest we nominate candidates to three-year terms for some stability.

That is one of the problems. We can't make any changes to what makes up this Club, so no one may even know about something like the "race committee". Who. Why. When. What.

Who hosts the website? Can't it just be edited or scraped and recreated?

Do we really need to make changes to the rules? Or maybe we should just abide by them and not skirt around them. Keeping the classes within the rules and not allowing cars that didn't run in the class race (re: street cars in the NASCAR class, etc.).

Well... I suggest officers (President, V.P., Treasurer & Secretary) be nominated. You can nominate yourself or by a club member. Nominations can be refused by the individual nominated. Then a vote to be placed in the "Polls" section.

As a few members are aware, I notified them that I would be out of town for a few days and would miss the January 10th race at Dennis'. I returned last night and saw this thread today, along with another issue being addressed within the committee thread.
I don't know what precipitated this 'Time for a change' and the timing of its posting, but apparently there have been 'communications' carried out in a nontransparent manner. Jumping right into this 'Nomination' process and the 'Officers et al', I would first question the need to "nominate" anyone but one's self.
If someone wants to put their own name in for consideration, let them do so themselves. No need to "refuse" the position if they don't want it.

If someone wants to nominate themself, let them. If someone is nominated and is unaware of being nominated and does not want the position, that person can refuse the nomination.

Having started several clubs, being part of the club leaders and being in many clubs over the years I would do the following:
1) Elect officers, following the guide lines that the club has.
2) Organize the current race schedule with no changes for the first quarter.
3) Leave all current class as they are set up but quickly get the next up class rules set based on the current guide lines.
Once this is done, have discussions on what is working and what is not. I would not do this meeting on the Internet, but in person. If you care about the club and direction you will show up for the meeting. This is the only way you can hear what is being discussed and get questions answered.
There are definitely some good things that started this club to have the amount of participants that we have currently. To those who did this, Thank You. To those who have helped run and direct the club Thank You. For those who want to keep this club moving forward, Thank You.
Now, let's get this started and get back to racing.

So, let's set up a time and place for a meeting, preferably before a race at a track where most of the members can fit. Back in the day, we held our meetings in a bar but probably not a good idea now. Anyway, chime in and give us ideas where/when to meet.

Tom How about Feb 3rd at Colpar before the race--getting there maybe an hour or so before practice. 10:30am might be better. Just a suggestion. Tom

There have been a lot of views and a lot of members on in the last couple of days--but hardly any response. PLEASE, let us know your thoughts on this and if you plan on attending the meeting whenever/wherever it is.

Feb 3 at Colpar seem to be a good place and time.
