Another topic that should be addressed is one that Mark Wernimont enacts at his track, and that is pre-race regulated practice times for all racers. This is especially important and relevant at events where we have over 12 entrants. At tracks like Colpar where the store's hours are the determining factor, it is possible to come in earlier than the posted '12:00 practice starts' time, but when that time commences, a regulatory time limit should be enacted. 3 minute run times, just like the race heats could be utilized by employing the 'Trackmate' software program. Late arrivals need to be given priority as well. A signup sheet may also need implementing, so that when we come in, our names are added to the roster, not only making the entrant list easier to log into the race programming, but also to determine whom has already logged some practice time.

I like the sign up sheet as we normally try and do a head count to confirm we have everyone in the system and occasionally we have failed. This will also let another racer add someone who is arriving late.
But this does create a question about how or if a late arriving car passes tech.
The Trackmate at Colpar needs to be configured correctly. The last time I was there we used Marc's software on his flash drive. And maybe that is how we should operate. We have had issues in the past.

Harry brought a sign-up sheet to our race meeting at Colpar on April 13th, which was very helpful in not only confirming how many racers are attending, but who they exactly are. This making the entry list into the computer programming much easier to complete and saving time as well.
We also discussed the implementation of 'timed practice' sessions for all members who attend the race meetings.
Yesterday at Colpar we were gauging the need to implement it or not. Given the prolonged amount of open practice time (due to the store's opening hours), there was no 'crush' at any given time leading up to race start on this day. So, even considering the teching process, we decided that implementing the 'timed practice sessions' at that time was unnecessary.
At all future meetings, similar assessments will be made and if necessary, the time allowance will be implemented. Harry has developed the programming that will ensure that all racers will be given a specific time allowance per lane, and once completed will allow for the rotation to the next lane, again with the same time allotment. This essentially mimics exactly what we are currently doing with our actual race heats at the race meetings.

Cut down the time between heats and the races will go faster, and any one want to buy my practice time?
