Merry Christmas everybody! I had an idea from our last race, when Jerry Oleson announced we have money left over in our treasury. We've used these funds for various projects like the IROC Subaru BRZs, but I submit we could consider having a "RMSCC tow fund" similar to what 1:1 racing does. RMSCC has several outstanding slot car racers (I'm not among them) and it would be great to allow one or two of them a chance to race at some of the bigger National races like the US Nationals that Electric Dreams promotes once a year. Here's what this simple idea might look like in the future:
-Each racer would apply for a specific race out-of-state and be willing to pay the majority of expenses to compete.
-RMSCC would provide a $100 grant for one of our racers to attend a National race.
-The recipient would be required to start a thread on their experience, how they finished and what lessons might be helpful to everyone.
Thoughts? Or maybe there are BETTER ideas that we could put the treasury funds towards?

I think this is a great idea as it will give more knowledge to the club gained from running regional or national races. Will also expose our racing to others who may travel and join us.
I'm am also sure I have not paid any club dues since joining. Take my Cash!!

I like the idea, but as David said "I'm not one of them".
Maybe get an Enduro group race in the line up. 3 to 5 guys go from our group.
Post the idea to other clubs for the Solo and Enduro in the surrounding states to gauge the interest. Maybe we could host some out of towners?

I had a friend from the northeast that may come for a weeks racing and suggested the 24 hour race run by Alan at 132 Slots.

What about using some of the money to fix the Colpar track? We have had a lot of problems with the timing and what about the controllers?

Several good ideas on how to use the RMSCC treasury here. I suggest we may want to keep the $5 annual membership fee and fund a couple of these suggestions in 2023.

I don't use them anymore, so I was wanting to know are they still working, if not, then it would be a good idea to keep them in good condition. I have had three controllers that I have had to fix, or try to fix, since we are using other than house controllers on my tracks. Is anyone doing any maintenance on the club controllers, such as cleaning and lubing the contact trigger and board?

Another idea would be to get a tire truer that everyone could use. Since we are running classes like the Carrera DTM, Scalextric Modern GT and will be running the Pioneer Legend class, these cars all have plastic wheels that may not be true. Some of the cars may have splined axles that I wouldn't take the wheels off of. Professor Motor used to have a tire truer that could true the wheels while still on the axle, but I don't know if that one or the Tire Razor are even available anymore.

I went to the store today and cleaned and lubed all the controllers--they weren't bad actually but I just did some maintenance on them. Tom

Yes. I have replaced 3 brake pods in the last couple of years. I only had to change one in the first 15 years of track ownership.
I have read that you should not make adjustments to a controller when a car is under power.
