What you talking about Willis? It's 'Whachu talkin bout Willis?' - Just what was mentioned at Jims last Weds. Either compensate John P for his equip. which is still being used at Colpar, or replacement of it for Colpar and give John back his.

Jerry suggested that the club invest in a tire truer to be used by club members. Slot Car Corner carries the CG tire truer for $189.99 and I have one you guys can use when you are here if you want to. I think it's a good idea to get one for the club. Tom

I heard this suggestion weeks ago and thought it might be an idea, however where would it be accessible to one and all at any given time? Most users would want to true their tires at home I would think.

That was the idea many years ago. The Club would have a Tire Truer that could be shared by members of the club. You would be able to take it home and use it, then you bring it back so another member could use it. Most tire truers do not have a power supply with them, so that would also needed to use the machine. Now a guy that has a track, may be able to use their extra power supply to run the tire truer. You need an adjustable power supply and need to have 5 or more amps to true tires. You also need to be able to have a power supply that can be turned down to 5 volts or less to true rubber tires and to true plastic wheels. Truing Silicone tires is not something for the man in a hurry. First, it would take hours to true silicone tires and you must be able to keep the tires cool while you true the silicone tires. I have also used mine to "make" inserts for wheels, by using old wheels and cutting and sanding down the old plastic wheels to fit in a new "insert" wheel. My Tyre Truer will hold a complete axle with wheels and bushings as well as the rear gear to true the plastic wheels.

I find that most silicone tires are pretty true and don't need truing unless they are not the correct tire for the wheels you are using. If they are high in the center just take down the wheel center. That usually does the trick. If the edges are high just get the correct tire for that wheel. Like you all don't already know this..LOL.
