A couple of things to rant/talk about, First I want to apologize for my behavior at the race today, I know I was just being a baby. Second, I will be open every Wed. night there isn't a club race, from 6pm tp 9pm. If anyone wants co come over for a test and tune or just to run some laps. If there are enough people who show up, we can have a non-club race or an IROC. OK, now the rant. This club supposedly has rules for each class. Since there are rules, there should be tech EVERY race. There are some clubs that even require the body be open for the first 3 finishers after the race. I know that is probably not going to happen but teching should be done every race. There are also some cars that sit too low to pass the clearance rule even out of the box. There usually is nothing you can do to make them pass and concessions should be made for those cars if they can't be made legal. In that regard, I suggest making the minimum ground clearance either 1.5MM or 3/64". That might solve any issues for some of the cars that are too low out of the box. I know we have made concessions for some of the body styles in the Sebring class but we need too be sure there are no cars running that didn't run at Sebring for the years specified for our class. I guess I'm saying we since we have rules, they should be followed and checked every race just to make sure all cars are legal. I don't think anyone is cheating, but just to keep things fair and as equal as possible. OK so now if you want me out of the club, so be it. I can be very opiniated but I think these things have to be said. Thanks. Tom

I don't want you out of the club Tom. It takes a group to balance things out, you certainly have valuable wisdom, opinion and input to help the club progress. Chris

I have no problem with Tom or "as delivered" ride height.

Nobody wants you out of the club Tom, including me. We all have our moments of being passionate with certain issues.

As to You, Tom, on being out of the Club, that is your choice. You have left the Club before and have come back again.
What I think you need to do is again, step back and see why you think that your behavior should be supported by the members in this Club. You need to make an apology to Robert and Ian and his family. Marlee comes to have fun and does not need to see us acting out. There were other families that came down and was watching the racing and left.
I don't run the same version of Trackmate as the store, so I can add a "late" driver in a race. My version also will show who is leading in each heat and doesn't use the total results for each heat. With using Marc's program for keeping track of racing results, I don't have to use my Trackmate's "race results" that are hard to work with because it compresses the results.

I already apologized for my behaviour in my original post--I just didn't race and left early. Most of the "drama" was before Ian's family came in. I probably won't race with the club for a while though but will still host on July 5th.

I think my behavior is fine 98% of the time--I only get upset with myself and sometimes it overflows to the club--not meant to be that way. It's just meant to be at me. Tom

Just spotted this thread and have to say that I've never wanted Tom (or anybody else) to leave the club. And speaking as a person who has to oversee a tech inspection process for 1:1 racecars before, during and after races, I support tech that keeps racing fast, fun and fair. The same applies to slotcar racing, but I question how much time and effort needs to be spent on it. Besides a general tech inspection at the start of a series, do we always need to do a ride height inspection at the start of every race? Wouldn't we be better served by allowing our members to ask for a tech inspection on say, the top three from the previous race, or a particular car that might be suspect?

The vintage club does tech at every race with no complaints from the racers. Tom

I think it should only take 5 to 10(max) minutes to "tech" cars before each race. I know we expect all racers to adhere to the rules all the time but what would prevent someone to change a few things or push the envelope after the first race/inspection or change do a different car?

I agree with both David's. I have participated, organize and run many events with all sized cars and all had Tech to start and some all finishers and some top three or even random.
I believe RMSCC have a few issues.
First is timely rules that explain the class in more detail than we get currently with time to acquire, build and set up a car.
Second is time for those who do not have a track or want help setting up a car the time on a race Saturday (realize Wednesday night is harder with time) race day to practice. With that we need to go to 2 min timed per lane, move down every two. Then adjust the car, get back in line and try again. Putting more than 10/15 laps on a car is not going to make it faster. My opinion.... Breaking in motors, running in gears should be done prior to the track.
Lastly we need to tech all cars every race, so it becomes part of the process. I believe most of this is already in the guide lines.
Most of you who have run at my track, other than timed practice, know this is how my events have been run. I am not changing. But timed practice will be the norm moving forward.
Thanks Mark W
